Research, development and innovation in the furniture industry – CZ.01.1.02/0.0/0.0/16_079/0008866
Project name: Research, development and innovation in the furniture industry – CZ.01.1.02/0.0/0.0/16_079/0008866
Project realization: 1.11.2017 – 31.5.2020
The aim of the project is industrial research aimed at acquiring new knowledge and skills for the development of new products (surface-shaped parts by chip-free technology) and processes (powder coating on MDF board) with significant improvement of existing properties. It involves creating parts of complex systems in a laboratory environment, as well as testing pilot lines for dusting in the furniture industry. This project solves the problem of shaping planar parts by chipless machining (embosing raw MDF boards) and their subsequent finishing by powder coating. It solves the problem of efficient production of flat shaped serial parts in one technological step. The use of this chipless machining method solves the problem of wastes generated by chip machining. Powder coating solves the problem of environmental aspects in coating applications and VOC emissions using the final product. The sheets produced by the combination of these technological processes will have higher water resistance and better mechanical properties: surface hardness, swelling, flexural strength.
The expected result of the project is a Functional sample of a flat shaped furniture part achieved by chipless machining, completed with a highly resistant emission-free surface treatment – dusting. Use: the new product thus produced, with substantial improvements in existing characteristics, will have a high potential for use in furniture manufacturers for kitchens, bathrooms, public areas such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, rail vehicles, ships and aircraft, etc.
